A long standing favourite amongst Fitzroy locals, The Standard Store in Melbourne is a fashion boutique with a unique selection of international brands. The owners, Nicola and Orlando, had recently renovated their Sydney store and were looking to bring their Melbourne space up to the same level.

We worked with Nicola and Orlando to refresh their existing space to create a cleaner and clearer display for their wares and enhance the store’s street presence. We used a hero colour to create an identity for the space, adding a new splash of colour in paint around the base and in bands up the walls. The colour theme was continued into a warm yellow perspex plinth that was incorporated into the existing window display. The existing hanging system was altered and rationalised to maximise hanging area and display space, through the centre of the space we utilised USM storage and display systems.

New additions to the space were intended as simple moves for maximum effect, creating a vibrant space worthy of the great products. The POS desk was imagined as a glowing central element, made from a combination of reeded glass and oak timber, with concealed lighting creating a soft glow effect. At the rear of the space the upgraded fitting room area incorporates a large arched mirror with matching custom rug creating a striking golden puddle.
