Lexy, an Asian fusion venue, is designed to be a bold, sophisticated, and elegant space with a dark yet glossy aesthetic. Briefed to create a no-holds barred venue for Asian fusion fare, Lexy, is dark, shiny, loud, yet sophisticated and elegant.
The colour palette draws inspiration from the deep green of a rich jade stone, a colour in Chinese culture symbolizing wealth, health, and harmony. This luxurious green, combined with jewel-toned orange velvet upholstery, cultivates a feeling of opulence and leisure.
Interior elements subtly reference Asian decorative traditions. The bar fronts and rear door panels feature re-imagined lattice work—inspired by timber cabinetry and shoji screens—re-created as fine stainless steel frames with internally illuminated panels. This glow creates the illusion that the room beyond is occupied, intriguing patrons. Behind the glowing panels sits the small but impactful VIP room, designed as an immersive experience. Grey marbled marmoleum covers the floor, extends up the walls, and curves over the ceiling. Embedded LED lights follow the direction of the curve, completing the dramatic enclosure.
The interior is characterised by high-gloss finishes. A gloss green paint covers banquette joinery, which reflects the distinctive ceiling above. The ceiling comprises ‘puddles’ of rippled stainless steel, dotted with warped Tom Dixon Melt pendant lights. LED lines trace the perimeter of these organic ceiling cut-outs to complete the effect. Stainless steel is used extensively throughout the space, providing a bright counterpoint to the dark scheme. The kitchen is clad in rippled stainless steel with LED-highlighted openings, while the infill joinery has a black gloss finish reminiscent of lacquered cabinets.
Lexy is a venue that serves as a fun night out whilst also creating an escape in the CBD for a fun work day lunch. She is bold, has curves for days and is well, a bit sexy.
