Osoi is a tiny cafe in Brunswick, nestled within the Nightingale Wurru Wurru Biik community. Duy approached us with a 17sqm space, envisioning a homey haven for handcrafted specialty beverages and sweet treats.

The cafe features a tightly packed service area designed for the meticulous preparation of every ingredient. The front-of-house area includes a cozy lounge and a slim leaner against the windows. Every inch of the space is filled with art, carefully curated characters, books, and handwritten notes. Outside, customers spill onto the footpath and nearby bleacher seating, creating a vibrant hum of activity.

The space utilises a warm colour palette, combining spotted gum timber veneer with textured Porter’s paint on one feature wall. Shallow shelving along the perimeter and ribbed detailing at the base of the espresso bar provide dedicated areas for display. Contrasting this warmth is a utilitarian stainless steel work surface behind the espresso bar, paired with the raw aesthetic of the tenancy’s exposed concrete block walls.
