Ruby —

Introducing the new girl on Queen St - Ruby Dining, now gracing the Ground Floor of the Adina hotel. Exuding a casual nonchalant elegance like the bistros and brasseries of Europe, she’s giving you effortless chic for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The design of space picks up where the previous tenant left off, utilising the good bones of the space, retaining the existing bar, the exposed waffle slab above and mirror panelled walls.

Splashes of ruby red bring the brand to life, adorning the mirrors in soft, curved frames and complementing the rich brown upholstery. Through strategic paint choices and subtle shifts in colour palette, we've sought to add a layer of warmth to the space and create an inviting atmosphere that feels both familiar and comfortable. Classic Thonet bistro chairs complete the space, an overall sense of familiarity with a twist.

THE BRAND:
Located in the ground floor of the Adina hotel, Ruby is a venue that services it’s customers from first coffee of the day to last cocktail of the evening. The branding for Ruby needed to exude the sophistication of a European bistro diner, whilst also maintaining an approachable casualness suitable for a lobby cafe. The logo for Ruby uses a thin sans serif font, with a simple sharp linear style repeated and angled to create an illusion of three dimensionality.

This juxtaposed against the more freeform illustrations allows the logo stand out once interspersed amongst them. Inspired by the style of daily specials hand drawn on a menu board, the illustrations are used within the branding to communicate the venue’s varied offerings & add a casual feel to the overall persona of Ruby.
